How the competition works:
Each year EIA will hold a competition to find the "Evaluator of the Year" from the applications of all those submitted by member organizations. Awards will be based on the number of evaluations completed, the time necessary to complete an evaluation, and the effectiveness of the evaluation. The criteria for making awards will be based on a formula that includes:
- Number of evaluation
- Value of ideas evaluated
- Time taken to evaluate
- Impact of ideas to the organization
Consieration will also be given to the action taken by the evaluator. We all know that evaluators go to great lengths to develop ideas, help suggestors and promote the program. We are looking to honor those individuals you hold in high regard for the contribution they make to your program. Make sure you tell us on the entry form why they are special.
An independent panel of judges, who review and score the applications, will judge all entries. There will be a special breakout session at the Training Conference to allow the finalist, or the program administrator, to give a short presentation as to why they are successful as an evaluator. The winners of "The Evaluator of the Year" competition will be announced at the Awards Banquet Thursday night, September 18. Trophies will be awarded.
There are enormous benefits to winning the competition. We so frequently undervalue the role served by evaluators. This competition highlights the important role of the evaluator and will honor and recognize those whose contribution is outstanding. Winning this competition will be a great bonus for your program and the winning evaluators will be an example to others that the role does get public recognition.
To enter the competition, simply consider all your evaluators and the ideas they have assessed. Select those you consider the best and submit a nomination for each on the enclosed form. Any number of evaluators may be entered so copy the enclosed form for multiple entries.
