The EIA recently announced the results of its annual search to determine the most innovative employee suggestion submitted through a company sponsored suggestion program. The award sponsor, BAE Ocean Systems, Braintree, MA, represented by Genevieve Vasseur, Quality Awareness Coordinator and Bruce Eppinette, President of the EIA, presented the trophies at the Association Sixtieth Annual Awards Banquet.

LOCKHEED MARTIN MISSILES AND FIRE CONTROL

All three Lockheed Martin employees won the award, along with $1,000 in traveler's checks, for their process improvement to the High Mobility Artillery rocket System (HIMARS) defense related production effort. The team's concept was to design and build a single tool that provided transportation of the HIMARS platform assembly while accommodating multiple tasks throughout the production process. This eliminated the need to manually maneuver large production parts with overhead hoists and cranes. The resulting "Multi-use Weld/Paint/Machining/Assembly Tool" was built entirely of surplus equipment and materials.
