CASS and CEIP Professional Certification

Application and Certification Overview

Eligibility

To be eligible for either the Certified Administrator of Suggestion Systems (CASS) or Certified Employee Involvement Professional (CEIP) certification, you are required to be an active member of the Employee Involvement Association.

Requirements

You must obtain a minimum of 100 verifiable points for various levels of work experience, education, training, and participation in the area of employee involvement. Additionally, you will be required to successfully complete an eight-week web-based certification course.

Application Process

You may start the certification process by submitting an application fee of $195 to EIAs management office. Upon receipt of this fee a certification plan will be initiated and a certification log will be developed to record your accumulation of points. The certification log will be active for a period of one year. If you fall short on the required number of points at the end of the year you may request a six-month extension. Certification extensions require an additional application fee. EIA reserves the right to deny subsequent extensions.

Professional Certification Council

EIA has established a Professional Certification Council (PCC) to sustain a high success rate in EIAs professional certification program. The Council is comprised of a six-member team of certified employee involvement professionals. This team is responsible for reviewing annually the certification criteria, application forms and course fees.. They also review subsequent certification extensions beyond the first application for extension. Members of the PCC, and their appointees, will act as mentors who will assess your certification log and all anticipated EI related activities to ensure you are on track to have the required number of points by the end of your certification year.

Certification Courses and Training Classes

Web-based certification courses have been established to support and enhance your professional certification experience. The courses are required before the CASS or CEIP professional certification can be granted. They will be offered periodically throughout the year. The frequency of these courses will be mandated by enrollment. As a professional certification applicant, you will receive notice of upcoming course schedules. You must register for these courses through the EIA management office. The registration fee for each course is $395 and payable with your registration.
Other potential costs could include specially designated training sessions designed to enhance and expedite your professional certification. Designated certification training sessions will be offered only through EIA sponsored events. These sessions are encouraged, but not required for the completion of your certification.
If you have questions about any training course as to whether it will apply toward your certification, contact the EIA management office or the Professional Certification Council.

Accumulation of Points

When you initiate your professional certification program, you will receive a list of approved activities that may be applied toward your professional certification and an application form that should be completed and returned.
Though it is not required, you may also want to provide official transcripts and a resume for review by the PCC so that points may be credited based on employee involvement related education and work history. Be sure to include on your resume, any current professional certifications you may already hold.
After an initial Professional Certification Council review, you will receive a copy of your certification point log sheet. This log will include pre-certification points awarded as a result of education and work history. This copy of your certification log will be for your use as a work sheet only. The PCC will maintain the official log. You must contact EIAs management office or the PCC to have the official log updated. Updates will only be applied based on verifiable activities submitted by the applicant.

Point Categories

Points will be credited in the following categories:
Employee Involvement Association membership
Professional work and military experience
Approved formal employee involvement related education
Employee involvement related publications (books, articles, etc.)
Employee Involvement Association chapter activities
National Employee Involvement Association activities
Approved international association activities
Employee involvement related community service
Employee Involvement Association sponsored training
Employee Involvement Association training event presentations
A current list of approved credit opportunities for each category, and the points or point ranges that may be applied for each of those opportunities, will be provided upon receipt of your application fee.

Re-certification

An application fee of $195 for re-certification should be submitted to the EIA management office. Re-certification will require that the EIA management office verify your current certification. You may also be required to provide verification of continued employment in an employee involvement related profession since the date of your most recent certification.
You must document no less than 20 verifiable certification points that have been obtained following your previous certification date.
If your certification has lapsed, you are ineligible for re-certification. You may however, submit an application for preliminary certification.
