2009 Award Winners
The Employee Involvement Association annually recognizes the best ideas submitted from employees of its organizational members. This year, more than 130 ideas were submitted from around the world for consideration.
 
An independent panel of judges reviews each idea to measure against the criteria of economic impact, increased productivity and ingenuity. This year’s award winners are to be congratulated for being the best.
 
Leading the pack of honorees is the Overall Idea of the Year Winner and Individual Idea of the Year Award Winner: 42 Pound Tool Cutter by Steve Shark of Honda of America Mfg., Inc., Anna Ohio. The Mankino #1 machine on the aluminum sleeve line used a 155mm mill cutter to machine the gasket area face of the V-6 engine block.  The problem was that if there was a qwuality issue the cutter had to be changed out and the tool weighed 42lbs and h ad to be manually installed and removed.  In addition, the operator had to stand about 27" away from the tool and make sure the tool is timed with the tool packet and took in excess of 150lbs of force to seat the tool.  It took one associate hold the tool and another to pray the fool free.  As a result of the suggestion a tool changer was designed and built  by the suggester that is user friendly and ergonomically fit to help the associates change the tool which provides ease of installation, ease of use, safety and reduced cost.  The tool changer also has a patent pending.
The Team Idea of the Year Award went to Dubai World for the idea submitted by Ayman Sulaiman and Adel Kalantar: Collecting Maritime Activity Fee from Non-Maritime Licensee. As a result of the idea when Dubai Maritime City became the authorized authority to issue maritime license, license's that already had the DED Maritime License activity did not have to open a new license for each activity catetory but only had to pay the extra fee for DMC.  As a result the annual recurring revenue was $2,069,480.
The Green Idea of the Year Award was earned by Lockheed Martin MFC Camden Operations for the idea submitted by Brandon Kratzer: Go Green Recycling Video for ESH Team. This suggestion was to develope a Go Green video to train employees and to discuss methods to promote the importance of recycling and as a result provided a positive impact on the employees, the company, the corporation and the community to . Implementation also resulted in a positive motivation for employees at a local level, while effectively supporting and promoting a far reaching corporate initiative that will utimately benefit future generations.
The Best Program Administrator Award was received by Jack Radomyski of Pro-Medica Health Systems. Pro-Medica Health System's "God Ideas" Employee Involvement Program achieved significant success through the contributions of Jack in the planning, promoting, implementation, day-to-day administration and program development.  Jack spearheaded the process of designing, promoting and implementing the project from day one.  As a result the program saw a 1000% ROI and awarded nearly $30,000 to employees in one year.
Communication Excellence Awards were received by Dubai Municipality for Communications/Marketing; Pro-Medica Health Systems for Publications, Promotions and Electronic Communications
Gold finalists for the Individual Idea of the Year award included:

Evaluator of the Year Award was received by Mike D. Wilkins of Pro-Medica Health System
Executive Leadership of the Year Award was received by Randy Oostra of Pro-Medica Health System
The Employee Involvement Association serves professional managers and administrators of employee involvement and suggestion programs and has been in operation for 67 years. It is estimated that its member organizations receive more than 250,000 suggestions per year.
